Do you ever see people living on the streets and wonder who they are and how they got there? Participating in the Regional Task Force on Homelessness’s annual Point-in-Time count is a great way to take a closer look and gain a deeper understanding of homelessness in and around our communities. Find a location in your neighborhood to volunteer and have a life-changing experience in your own backyard.
The Point-in-Time count serves the purpose of conducting a one-night census of individuals experiencing homelessness in our community during the month of January. As a volunteer, you will join a team to canvas a specific area on-foot, reaching out to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness. You will conduct a brief survey and take a headcount of these individuals. And yes, the count happens in the wee hours of the morning, that isn’t a typo!!
We have volunteered for the past two years in Ocean Beach and look forward to participating again in 2025!
